I suppose you’re wondering how to take great photos or what we use to take ours, well a great photo isn’t just a professional camera. A great photo is a photographer too! You can take incredible photos on smartphones too, especially with the technology in today’s day. But if you are interested in professional quality photos, here is what we use to take ours!
Cameras
We currently have two cameras. As of writing this post, most of our photos have been taken with our Sony Alpha 7iii.
Our second and now our main camera is the Sony Alpha 7iv. We purchased it in April 2023 and are very happy with the camera!
Lenses
We currently have two lenses. Our main lens is the Sigma 24-70mm F2.8. 24-70mm is the “great for everything lens” that can execute well on portraits while also being able to capture some landscape if needed.
Our second lens is the Sigma 16-28 mm F2.8. The 16-28mm is great for video work/cinematography and does amazingly well with its wide-angle lens on landscape and interior shots.
Tripod
We currently use the Ulanzi Zero F38 Carbon Fiber tripod. Since it is no longer on Amazon, we recommend the closest substitute, the ULANZI F38 Video Travel Tripod. This tripod is lightweight and compact, perfect for anyone traveling!
For some other options, there is the Peak Designs (Carbon Fiber) tripod. Both Peak Design tripods are perfect for traveling because they are lightweight and compact!
Peak Designs has a cheaper version, the Peak Design (Aluminum) tripod.
Cheaper options include the Neewer 72′ Tripod. This is a great tripod for road trips, but it is heavy and large, so it is not great for flights.
We also have a mini tripod that works for phones and cameras! This is a great flexible tripod for mounting in high places on fences, trees, or other places to wrap around. The ULANZI Camera Tripod is a great flexible tripod.
Bags
We use a combination of three bags to store/take our camera gear on trips! We use the TARION Pro bag when going on short trips. This pack is perfect for road trips, hiking, or day trips! However, we only bring one bag each when we fly, so this is not the one we take for our gear.
We use the MindShift Gear BackLight Elite 45L Camera Backpack for backpacking trips. This is an incredible backpacking pack with excellent storage for gear and clothes! The best part of this bag is that it is carry-on sized! Hayden uses this as his only backpack on trips. He used it for our 17-day trip to Italy and only needed one bag.
For day trips or quick photoshoots, a smaller bag is easier, or we use the CADeN Camera Backpack in case a second carry-on bag is needed.
Drone
For our drone, we have the DJI Mini 3 Pro! It is a great, lightweight travel drone that can shoot horizontally and vertically, perfect for switching between YouTube and Instagram clips.
Additional Gear
We have lots of additional camera gear! We use the Peak Design Camera Clip for a quick mounting place.
We use the SanDisk 2TB Extreme PRO Portable SSD to store our photos and videos. It is an incredible, compact SSD perfect for traveling!
We felt it was necessary to protect our SSD, so we got the Yinke Hard Case for SanDisk Extreme Pro/SanDisk Extreme Portable External SSD.
